How much does a community manager cost in France? (2026)
Short answer
In France in 2026, a freelance community manager charges €256 to €443 a day on Malt, agency packs start around €490 to €790 a month, and a salaried community manager on the €29,000 median costs the employer about €3,000 a month. Doing it yourself costs hours, not cash. Done-for-you services such as Klipt start at €300 a month.
This guide is for small business owners in France who want someone else to run their Instagram, Facebook or TikTok and need a real budget. By the end you will know what each option costs in 2026, what you get for the money, and which one fits your size.
How much does a community manager cost in France in 2026?
Between €300 and about €3,000 a month, depending on whether you buy a service, a freelancer's time or a full-time employee. Doing it yourself costs no cash but takes hours every week.
The table below puts the main options side by side. Prices are excluding VAT. Where a monthly figure is our own maths from a day rate or a salary, we say so.
| Option | Typical monthly cost (excl. VAT) | What you get | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Do it yourself | €0 in cash, about 22 hours of your time at 5 hours a week (our maths) | You plan, shoot, write and post | Fiverr survey, 2025 |
| Freelancer, monthly package | €320 to €600 | 2 to 4 posts a week, often on one network | A freelancer's price page, 2026 |
| Freelancer on Malt, 2 days a month | about €512 to €886 (our maths) | Whatever fits in two days of work | Malt, 2026 |
| Agency pack | €490 to €790, plus a €600 set-up fee on the larger pack | About 8 to 12 posts a month on 2 or 3 networks, monthly report | Agency price page, 2026 |
| Salaried community manager | about €3,017 (employer cost) | A full-time person who can also answer messages and film on site | Blog du Modérateur, 2026, Urssaf simulator |
| Klipt (that's us) | €300 | 30 pieces a month on every network you choose, you approve each one | Klipt offer |
The sections below explain where each number comes from and what hides behind it.
What does a freelance community manager charge?
On Malt, an experienced freelance community manager charges €406 a day on average in 2026, and beginners around €256 (Malt, 2026). Platforms with smaller jobs show much lower rates.
Malt's 2026 barometer, based on freelancers active on the platform in the last three months, gives these average day rates by experience:
- 0 to 2 years: €256 a day
- 3 to 7 years: €312 a day
- 8 to 15 years: €406 a day
- 15 years and more: €443 a day
On Codeur.com, where many small one-off jobs are posted, the average day rate seen for social media managers in October 2026 was €140, or about €20 an hour, and the average project budget was €589 (Codeur.com, October 2026). The gap tells you that "freelancer" covers students starting out as well as senior consultants.
Most small businesses do not buy days. They buy a monthly package. One French freelancer's public price page lists €320 a month for 2 posts a week on one network, €450 for 3 posts a week and €600 for 4 posts a week with a monthly report (freelancer price page, 2026).
Our maths: if a freelancer gives your account two days a month, that is about €512 at the beginner rate and €886 at the most experienced rate on Malt. Always ask what is included: photos, videos, replies to comments, and how many networks.
What does an agency charge for social media management?
A small-business pack at a French agency starts around €490 to €790 a month, and video packs cost more. Larger engagements for growing companies reach five figures.
One French agency publishes its prices openly. Its entry offer starts at €490 a month, with €590 for two networks and €690 for three, for about three posts a week and a monthly report. Its "Community Management" pack costs €790 a month plus a €600 set-up fee, for 8 posts and 4 stories a month on two networks, one hour of moderation and a monthly report. A video pack for Instagram or TikTok costs €1,200 a month on a six-month commitment, for 8 videos (agency price page, 2026).
Our maths on that €790 pack: 12 pieces a month comes to about €66 a piece, before the set-up fee.
For bigger contracts, the comparison site La Fabrique du Net analysed 46 community management budgets from agencies listed on its platform. The median for a small or medium company was about €21,000, for agency fees only, with paid ads on top (La Fabrique du Net, updated June 2026). The page does not say over how many months, so treat it as an order of size for a full engagement, not a monthly price.
What you get with an agency: a team, a process, and usually strategy and reporting. What you trade: higher prices per post, set-up fees and sometimes long commitments.
What does a salaried community manager really cost?
A community manager on the 2026 median salary of €29,000 gross a year costs the employer about €3,017 a month, or about €36,200 a year, before equipment and software. In Paris, where the median is higher, the cost climbs to about €4,400 a month.
The median gross salary for the job title "community manager" is €29,000 a year, from a survey of 471 community and social media managers in France run in July and August 2026. Social media managers earn a median of €37,000, and the median in Paris is €39,000 against €30,000 in the rest of France (Blog du Modérateur, October 2026). Indeed shows a similar level, with an average of €27,286 a year from 596 reported salaries (Indeed France, October 2026).
Here is the worked example, using the official Urssaf simulator with its default settings (permanent contract, non-executive, no bonus), run on 20 October 2026 (Urssaf simulator, 2026):
| Step | Per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| Gross salary (€29,000 a year) | €2,417 | €29,000 |
| Employer contributions after the general reduction | about €600 | about €7,200 |
| Total employer cost | about €3,017 | about €36,200 |
| Net pay before income tax | about €1,891 | about €22,700 |
Why only about 25% on top of gross? In 2026, French employers get a general reduction of their contributions on pay below 3 times the minimum wage, and the reduction shrinks as the salary rises (Urssaf, updated July 2026). Run the same simulator at the Paris median of €3,250 gross a month and the employer cost becomes about €4,412 a month.
Not included: a laptop and phone, design and scheduling software, training, recruitment time, and the months it takes a new hire to learn your business.
What does doing it yourself cost?
No cash, but real hours: about 22 hours a month if you give it five hours a week. Most owners cannot spare that much: in a Fiverr survey of nearly 6,000 small business owners in 25 countries, 70% said they spend less than five hours a week on all their marketing (Fiverr survey, 2025).
Our maths: five hours a week is about 21.7 hours a month. Even valued at the French minimum wage of €12.31 gross an hour (Service Public, June 2026), that is about €267 of time each month. Your own hour is very likely worth more, because it is the hour you are not serving customers.
Doing it yourself works well when you enjoy it, when your best content happens in front of you (a chef plating, a hairdresser's before and after), and when you keep a steady rhythm. If you go this way, a few free tools save time: see our guide to the best social media tools for small businesses. For how often to post, our Instagram posting guide for restaurants gives clear numbers.
The hidden cost is irregularity. Accounts go quiet during busy weeks, which are the weeks you have the most to show.
Where does a done-for-you service like Klipt fit?
Klipt is a done-for-you social media studio at €300 a month excluding VAT, for 30 pieces a month, one a day, on every network you choose. It sits below most freelancers and agencies on price, and it does not do everything they do.
What you get, as stated in our offer: reels, carousels, posts and stories built from your website, photos, offers and tone, sized for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Threads, Pinterest and YouTube Shorts at the same price. Each post waits on your phone with the reason behind it, and nothing goes out without your yes. Setup takes about 10 minutes and the first week is ready for review within 48 hours. The work is made by an AI-powered studio supervised by people, and you can cancel any month. You can see the steps in how it works.
What you do not get (yet): replies to comments and direct messages. We do not promise customers. We promise a professional post every day.

Which option fits which business?
Pick by what you need done, not only by price: posting, talking to customers, or both. Here is an honest match.
- Doing it yourself fits a very small business with a tight budget and an owner who likes filming and writing, and who can protect a few hours each week.
- A freelancer fits when you want one person who knows your business, maybe comes on site for photos, and handles a defined monthly package. Check the network count and whether replies to comments are included.
- An agency fits a business that also wants strategy, ad campaigns and a team behind the account, and can budget €800 a month or more.
- A salaried community manager fits a company with several sites, a large community to answer every day, or events to cover. At about €3,000 a month all in, it only pays off when there is a full-time job to do.
- A done-for-you service like Klipt fits a shop, café, studio or local service that mainly needs to look active and professional every day on several networks, and can answer its own messages. If you need someone to reply to DMs for you, Klipt is not the right fit yet.
FAQ
How much does a freelance community manager charge per month in France?
Monthly packages for small businesses often sit between €320 and €600 excluding VAT for 2 to 4 posts a week. By the day, Malt's 2026 averages run from €256 for beginners to €443 for the most experienced.
What is the employer cost of a community manager in France?
On the 2026 median salary of €29,000 gross a year, the official Urssaf simulator gives about €3,017 a month in total employer cost. That excludes equipment, software and recruitment.
Is an agency more expensive than a freelancer?
Usually yes per post. One French agency's pack of 8 posts and 4 stories costs €790 a month plus a €600 set-up fee, while freelance packages for similar volumes start lower.
Does a cheaper service replace a community manager?
Only for the content part. A service that creates and publishes posts does not answer customers in comments or messages, so someone in your team still has to do that.
Are these prices with or without VAT?
Freelance, agency and Klipt prices here are excluding VAT. Salaries and employer costs have no VAT.
