Done-for-you social media: what it is and what it costs (2026)
Short answer
A done-for-you social media service makes, captions and publishes your posts for a flat monthly fee, and you approve them. In October 2026, small-business plans ran from $39 a month (Boomp, 22 posts) and $99 ($99 Social, 10 posts) to £225 + VAT (50 Pound Social). Freelancers ask $750–1,500 and agencies $500–5,000. Klipt costs €300 for 30 pieces.
This guide is for owners of a shop, a café, a salon or a small practice who keep seeing "done-for-you social media" and want to know what they would really get. You will see what these services include, what they still leave to you, what they cost in 2026 with prices read on vendors' own pages, and the questions that separate a good fit from a bad one.
What is done-for-you social media?
A done-for-you social media service plans, makes, captions and publishes your posts every month for a flat fee; your job is to send material and approve. It sits between a scheduling tool, where you make every post yourself, and an agency, which can also run strategy and ads for a higher fee.
The label covers a wide range. At one end, low-cost subscriptions turn your website and photos into a set number of posts a month. At the other, freelancers and agencies sell monthly packages that include the same work plus extras such as community management or paid campaigns. What they share: posts arrive finished, and someone else presses publish.
It is not the same as a scheduler such as Buffer or Later, which saves clicks but still needs you to create everything (see our guide to the best social media tools for small businesses). Nor is it an AI writing tool that hands you drafts to check, compared in our guide to AI social media tools.
The pull is time. In a survey of 501 UK small-business owners, 54% said they spend one to three hours a week creating social content, and 11% spend up to a full working day a week on their online presence (survey by Markel Direct, via HJI, August 2026). A done-for-you service is meant to give most of those hours back.
What does a done-for-you service include, and what is left to you?
Most plans include post design, captions, hashtags and scheduling; video, stories and replies to comments are often extras or not offered at all. Read each plan line by line, because "a post" does not mean the same thing everywhere.
Three examples, read on 29 October 2026:
- $99 Social: every plan includes visuals, captions and hashtags, and scheduling and posting. You review a full month through a review link, then approve, edit or ask for changes. Short video is an add-on at $99 a month for 4 videos, stories cost $49 a month for 10, and replies to comments and DMs stay with you ($99 Social pricing, 2026).
- Boomp: the Core plan gives "22 posts a month, ready to approve", including 1 video, posted for you on all supported networks plus your Google Business Profile. Its page says Boomp is not a paid-ads agency or a community-management team (Boomp pricing, 2026).
- 50 Pound Social (UK): the Essential plan gives about one post a week on one platform, with branded graphics, captions and hashtags. Short videos and carousels appear on the £225 Premium plan (50 Pound Social, 2026).
Whatever you choose, some work stays with you:
- Sending real material: product photos, this week's offer, new opening hours.
- Approving or correcting posts, ideally in one sitting a week.
- Replying to comments and messages, unless your plan clearly includes it.
- Paid ads. Agencies usually put paid campaign management in their top tiers (Dig Designs, February 2026).
How much does done-for-you social media cost in 2026?
Low-cost done-for-you plans ran from $39 to $279 a month in October 2026, while a freelance retainer costs $750–1,500 and agencies $500–5,000. The table shows each vendor's own figures, read on 29 October 2026, next to typical freelance and agency rates.
| Service | Price a month | Posts a month | Networks included | Video | Who makes the posts | Terms |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Boomp | $39 (Core) to $199 (Max) | 22 to 100 | All supported, plus Google Business Profile | 1 to 20 videos, by plan | Not stated on the pricing page | Month to month |
| $99 Social | $99 (Standard) to $279 (Pro) | 10 to 30 | 1, then $10 a month per extra channel | Add-on, $99 for 4 videos | People; AI for ideas only, per the vendor | Month to month, 7 days' notice |
| 50 Pound Social (UK) | £50 to £225 + VAT | about 4 to 13 | 1 or 2 | On Premium (£225) | A real person, per the vendor | No contract |
| Klipt Studio (that's us) | €300 excl. VAT | 30, one a day | Up to 8, same price | Reels included | AI, supervised by people | Monthly, no commitment |
| Freelancer (basic retainer) | $750–1,500 | about 13 to 22 | 1 or 2 | Varies | One person | Varies |
| Agency | $500–5,000 | Varies | 1 or 2 (basic) to 3 or 4 (standard) | Premium tiers | A team | Varies |
Boomp's cheapest plan, Packs at $9 a month, gives you 10 posts to download and publish yourself, so it is not done for you. Boomp also sells a separate service at $275 a month, "with Boomp's founder approving every post" (Boomp pricing, 2026).
The freelancer row is a basic retainer for one or two networks and three to five posts a week (SolidGigs, August 2026). The agency row runs from basic tiers at $500–1,500 to standard packages for three or four networks at $1,500–3,000, and premium retainers with custom video and paid campaigns at $3,000–5,000 (Dig Designs, February 2026). For scale, a full-time social media manager in the US earns about $65,734 a year before employer costs (Indeed US, October 2026).
What does one post really cost?
Divide the monthly price by the number of finished posts, then check what one "post" covers. By our maths, low-cost services land between about $1.80 and $9.90 a post (£12.50 + VAT on 50 Pound Social's entry plan), and a freelancer between about $34 and $115.
| Option | Our maths | Per post | What one post covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boomp Core | $39 ÷ 22 | about $1.80 | All supported networks |
| $99 Social Standard | $99 ÷ 10 | $9.90 | One channel |
| $99 Social Pro | $279 ÷ 30 | $9.30 | One channel |
| 50 Pound Social Essential | £50 ÷ 4 | £12.50 + VAT | One platform |
| Klipt Studio (that's us) | €300 ÷ 30 | €10 excl. VAT | Sized and captioned for each network you pick, up to 8 |
| Freelancer, basic retainer | $750–1,500 ÷ 13 to 22 posts | about $34–115 | One or two networks |
We counted three to five posts a week as 13 to 22 posts a month (4.33 weeks).
The lowest price per post is not automatically the best deal. A post that looks like everybody else's, or that you rewrite every week, costs you time instead of money. Check whether posts start from your own photos and offers, whether video is included, and how many networks one post reaches.
Volume matters too. Instagram accounts posting 6–9 times a week grew followers about 3.7 times faster than accounts posting once or twice (Buffer, 2025, 2.1 million posts from 102,000 accounts). Ten posts a month is about two a week; thirty is one a day.
Who makes the posts: people or AI?
It depends on the vendor, so ask. $99 Social says it "uses AI for ideas only" and that real people write and design every post; 50 Pound Social says a real person writes each post; Boomp's pricing page does not say.
AI is not the problem in itself; invented content is. In Clutch's survey of 601 consumers in August 2026, 53% said they are less likely to buy from brands using AI in social content, nearly 90% said brands should disclose AI-generated content, and 64% would trust a brand less if AI content misrepresented its products (Clutch, 2026).
So ask three things: who writes and designs, who checks before you see it, and whether each post starts from your real photos and offers. Klipt, for the record, is an AI-powered studio supervised by people, and its messages are marked "AI-assisted". Our guide on whether AI social media content works covers what AI does well and where it fails.
How do approvals, notice and ownership work?
A good service lets you approve every post before it goes out and leaves your accounts and files in your name. The approval rhythm varies from one review a month to one tap per post.
- $99 Social: a full month at once, through a review link. Cancelling needs at least 7 days' notice before your next billing date, and management plans carry a 14-day money-back guarantee ($99 Social pricing, 2026).
- Boomp: "Posts wait for your approval by default", and you can switch on auto approval in settings. Plans are month to month, with no annual commitment or cancellation fee (Boomp pricing, 2026).
- 50 Pound Social: "No contracts, cancel anytime" (50 Pound Social, 2026).
- Klipt: each post waits on your phone with the reason behind it; one tap approves it, or you ask for changes in plain words. You can review a whole week at once or approve from WhatsApp. Nothing goes out without your yes, unless you switch on autopilot yourself.
On ownership, never hand over your password, and ask in writing who owns the designs and files if you leave. Our guide to choosing a social media freelancer or an agency explains US copyright rules for commissioned posts and how partner access works. At Klipt, source files (MP4, PNG, PDF) are yours to download, and the rights belong to you once the month is paid.
Is done-for-you social media worth it for a small business?
It is worth it when your problem is time: you trade a fixed monthly fee for posts that keep going out in your busiest weeks. It is the wrong buy if what you need is someone to answer messages, run ads or film in your shop.
A quiet account has a cost. In SOCi's 2026 Local Discovery Index of more than 1,000 US consumers, 59% said a social post or video has turned them into a customer of a local business, and 43% use social media to preview a place before visiting (SOCi, September 2026).
No service can promise you customers, though, and anyone who does is guessing. A good fit looks like this:
- Choose done-for-you if you know you should post, you have a website or photos, and you can spare about an hour a week to approve.
- Choose a freelancer or an agency if you need comment replies, ads or on-site filming. Compare every option, people included, in our guide to alternatives to hiring a social media manager.
- Keep a scheduler if you enjoy creating posts and only want to save clicks.
Where does Klipt fit?
Klipt Studio (that's us) is a done-for-you service: €300 a month excluding VAT for 30 pieces, one a day, on up to eight networks. Here it is against the same criteria as the others.
- Price and terms: €300 a month excl. VAT, about €10 a day, one plan, monthly, no commitment, with a pause for holidays (see the offer). That is about $334 at the European Central Bank rate of 28 October 2026 (European Central Bank, 2026), so more than Boomp or $99 Social and less than a basic freelance retainer.
- Volume and formats: 30 pieces a month (reels, carousels, posts, stories, LinkedIn documents), in the mix you need.
- Networks: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Threads, Pinterest and YouTube Shorts at the same price, each piece sized and captioned for each network.
- How it is made: from your website, photos, offers and tone, with no templates. Your feedback becomes rules, such as "no emojis" or "always mention free delivery".
- Setup: about 10 minutes, and your first week is ready for review within 48 hours. Here is how it works.
- What it does not do: Klipt does not reply to comments or direct messages yet. If you need someone to answer DMs, Klipt is not for you yet. We promise a professional post every day, not new customers.
What should you ask before you sign?
Ask the same eight questions to every provider and compare the answers side by side. Most surprises come from what counts as a post and what is left out.
- How many posts a month, and does a carousel count as one?
- Which networks are included, and what does each extra one cost?
- Is video included, or sold as an add-on?
- Who makes the posts, people or AI, and who checks them?
- Do I approve every post, and can I approve a week at once?
- Do you reply to comments and DMs, or is that on me?
- What is the notice period, and is there a money-back guarantee?
- Who owns the designs and files if I leave?
FAQ
What does done-for-you social media mean?
It means a service plans, makes, captions and publishes your posts every month for a flat fee. You send material such as photos and offers, and you approve the posts before they go out.
How much does a done-for-you social media service cost?
In October 2026, low-cost plans ran from $39 a month (Boomp, 22 posts) and $99 a month ($99 Social, 10 posts on one channel) to £225 + VAT (50 Pound Social). Freelance retainers cost $750–1,500 a month and agencies $500–5,000.
Is done-for-you social media the same as an agency?
Not quite. Done-for-you plans focus on making and publishing posts for a fixed price, while agencies usually add strategy, community management and paid ads in higher tiers, for more money.
Do done-for-you services reply to comments and messages?
Not on the plans in this guide. $99 Social leaves replies to the client, Boomp says it is not a community-management team, and Klipt does not reply to comments or DMs yet.
Can I approve posts before they go live?
With the services in this guide, yes. $99 Social uses a monthly review link, Boomp holds posts for your approval by default, and Klipt sends each post to your phone or WhatsApp for a one-tap yes.
